Material Notes:
MARVAC 250 VIM-VAR is a low carbon maraging steel capable of 240,000 psi minimum yield strength, coupled with excellent toughness and ductility. The alloy has good fabrication characteristics, which include a low rate of work hardening, good machinability and weldability, and a very simple heat treatment process. Marvac 250 is produced by vacuum induction melting followed by VAC-ARC remelting. This approach provides superior cleanness and a preferred ingot structure to enhance transverse mechanical properties. Marvac 250 is supplied in the solution annealed condition.Information Provided by Timken Latrobe Steel.Timken sold Latrobe in December 2006. They are now Latrobe Specialty Steels Co.
