Material Notes:

Universal 4130 is a heat treatable low alloy steel for the welding of SAE 4100 series steels. Some of these steels, the higher carbon grades, will require a preheat of 300°F to 350°F. The lower carbon grades are easily welded without preheat unless the preheat is required to develop specific physical properties.Information provided by Universal Wire Works for their line of welding wire and filler metal.
