The two ketone groups in its' backbone can chelate various cations allowing for adhesion between methacrylate resins or plastics and metals. The homopolymer of acetoacetoxyethyl methacrylate has a low Tg creating the potential for use as a toughening agent in polymer systems. CAS # 21282-97-3.
